Why
do you call it advanced reading?
ReadQuick is designed to help people that are already competent readers
who wish to manage their information better. Increasing reading speed
is only one method of improving information handling. There are other
techniques that ReadQuick teaches during the course.
Will
this help my technical reading?
Yes. Most highly technical passages contain a high percentage of normal
English, which will be read at higher speeds. Previewing and Scanning
techniques will help determine what needs to be read word for word.
Is
this a remedial reading course?
No. ReadQuick builds on average reading abilities. Those with reading
problems should seek out one of the remedial reading courses or teachers.
Will
it improve my comprehension?
Yes, for a number of reasons. Your mind wanders when you read slowly.
In the same way, your mind wanders when you listen to someone speaking
very slowly. If you read at higher speeds your mind is active and will
stay focussed and therefore absorb more important information.
Secondly, you need to read in new ways to improve comprehension, including
previewing at high speed and then re-reading the important sections word
for word while you fit the information into you existing knowledge.
Can
this help in my post-graduate study?
To be sure. All study courses require an enormous amount of reading
- the more you read the more knowledgeable you will become.
English
is my second language - can this improve my English reading?
A difficult question. Advanced reading requires quick recognition of
word patterns, not reading letter by letter. If you are able to recognise
English words quickly then you are likely to see an improvement in your
reading ability. If you read at 100 words per minute and you increase
your speed to 200 you will certainly realise a great benefit.
