Classroom
courses
People who have done classroom courses usually improved their reading
speed during the course but say their speed dropped as they forgot the
techniques. They also reported embarrasing peer pressure, inconvenient
group timetabling and courses rescheduled, high course costs, wasted travel
time and a lack of interactive teaching tools or individual remediation.
After the course there was no way of rebuilding or revising their skills.
Classroom based trainers charge from $500 to $900 per person because they
have to cover the costs of trainers and resources. Computer based training
utilises existing resources and therefore costs are considerably lower.
Books and videos
There are many interesting speed-reading books and videos but they do
not interact with the user nor are they tailored to their particular strengths
and weaknesses. Computer Based Training has outdated and outperformed
instructional books and videos in most areas of learning.
