It is a surprising fact that the vast majority of us did our last reading lesson in primary school - and still read, saying every word, like we did with the teacher. Every other skill we learned as kids has been polished by years of study - but not reading.

Now, as business people, we never feel on top of our reading load and are unable to read all that is important. We are not fully up to date with competitive developments and we often hold back others while they wait for us to read documents. We could be better informed and a lot smarter if we could read all books recommended to us.

We all know a few people who easily handle a massive amount of reading but we think they are somehow gifted. We are complacent about our reading because we think that we were taught all we needed to know when we were kids. We just don’t realise that a set of advanced reading skills can be learned by anyone of any age, or IQ, by building on existing reading skills.
